Athlete Expectations
- Arrive on time with a water bottle, ready to run in appropriate running gear (weather appropriate clothing -- shorts or tights, shirt and running shoes). For meets bring water and a snack.
- Carry a positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Give your best effort and listen to your coaches.
- Treat coaches, teammates and competitors with respect, encouragement and support - indicated by positive language, interactions and habits (such as shaking hands, “Nice race,” etc.) Remember, we are representing Wells.
- If athletes need to leave practice for any reason, including going to the bathroom, they must communicate with the coaches.
Off campus running and transportation
- Always use the crosswalk
- Be courteous of pedestrians
- Make eye contact with drivers if you cross the street and make sure it's safe. Thank the driver with a wave or verbal thank you if they let you cross
- Be aware of cars in parking lots or driveways
- Do not run down the middle of the street
- Give faster runners the right of way
- No littering
- Never throw anything out of the bus window
Behavior
For serious behavioral violations, there will be a verbal warning. A 2nd violation will be a call home. A 3rd violation will result in being dismissed from the team.
